Slow Cooking
Slow cooking is an excellent way to prepare delicious and healthy meals the easy way. With slow cooking, a working person can start a full meal cooking in the morning, head off to work and have a great meal ready to serve when they get home after work. Slow cooking also simmers in the flavors so nothing is lost and everything tastes great. Another benefit of slow cooking is that you can use less expensive cuts of meat as the meat wil stew all day in juices and become more tender. If you want to do so, you can buy a slow cooker at most any discount or department store. They are also available on the internet, of course. they come in various sizes, but I have found that unless you will be slow cooking for only one, the bigger sizes are better as you do not have to fill them as full and they will be less likely to bubble over and make a mess. And if you are cooking for one, the larger slow cooker will enable you to make extra so you can freeze a meal for future use.
Slow cooking a s very versatile process. You can do slow cooking with chicken, beef, lamb, pork, seafood or just vegetables. You can make soup. stew or just a one pot meal. But how do you learn about slow cooking? Well all the major bookstores have a wide variety of cookbooks and you can usually find at least a few that are dedicated solely to slow cooking. There are also numerous cooking sites on the internet that can teach you the basics of slow cooking and that can provide many great recipes. Slow cooking is easy and it is so rewarding to come home to a fully cooked delicious meal.
Say you want to prepare a chicken dish. Well you can use a whole chicken, or cut up pieces, breasts, thighs and drumsticks or even just skinless boneless breasts or thighs. If you are using a split fryer chicken, you can either cook the chicken in the slow cooker for a few hours with the spices of your choice and water, then remove the chicken and cook the vegetables of your choice while de-boning the . When the vegetables have cooked for a hew hours, you can return the chicken meat to the pot and cook for another hour or so, then serve. But if you really want to do hands off slow cooking, then you just cook the chicken pieces along with the vegetables and herbs and spices and then just serve it all up together. When you do slow cooking this way, it is better not to use any pieces with a lot of small boones as they can become difficult for the diner to see and remove.
