When you think of famous combinations a number of associations can come to an individual's mind. For example love and marriage, horse and buggy, salt and pepper, wine and roses, etc. All are common word and subject associations or combinations.

An additional and delicious combination of words is cream cheese and bagel. This combination is often the breakfast of many individuals in the morning that goes well with their morning cup of coffee.

Another popular use for cream cheese is in the making of cream cheese frosting. It may be of interest to the individual who is thinking about making cream cheese frosting to know what cream cheese is, what are some uses of this popular topping and how to make this frosting.

What Is Cream Cheese?

Cream cheese is simply made from milk fat and water. Generally, the milk fat comprises at least 33% of the total content of the cream cheese and 55% of the being comprised from water. In addition, the pH range of the cream cheese is in the range of 4.4 to 4.9 acidic range.

In addition, cream cheese is normally white in appearance and has a very soft and moderate taste. However, cream cheese can be mixed with other seasonings and flavorings. Some of these seasonings and flavorings can include chives, onions, garlic and even fruit flavors.

Uses Of Cream Cheese Frosting

This product is best enjoyed when the cream cheese is fresh. Common uses of cream cheese include the use of this pleasant tasting cheese on bagels. Also, cream cheese is a major ingredient in some desert recipes. One of the most common dessert recipes that utilizes cream cheese is cheesecake.

In addition to utilizing cream cheese within a dessert recipe, another delicious way to utilize cream cheese is by making cream cheese frosting. Examples of desserts that can use cream cheese frosting are cheesecake, apple cake, chocolate cake, etc. Probably one of the most popular desserts that is topped with cream cheese frosting is carrot cake.

How To Make Cream Cheese Frosting

The basic ingredients of cream cheese frosting are butter, vanilla and cream cheese. Simply blend, with a hand mixer, six ounces of soft cream cheese, a half of cup of butter and one teaspoon of vanilla. Continue to blend the ingredients together until the mixture takes on a light and airy texture.

To this mixture add two cups of powdered sugar. As you continue to blend the mixture together mix in an additional 4 1/2 cups of powdered sugar. The mixing process should continue until the cream cheese frosting can be easily used as a frosting spread.

Once the cream cheese frosting has been created it needs to be refrigerated. Also, the frosting should keep for six days if refrigerated.
