Cooking As A Career
If you choose Cooking as a career, you will at least probably never go hungry and you can bring a lot of joy into other people's lives. Cooking as a career doesn't always come by deliberate choice. sometimes a young person just sort of falls into it. It can start witha part time job in restaurant as a busboy or dishwasher. It doesn't even necessarily have to be a finer restaurant just a place to work and begin learning the business. If the young person finds they like the restaurant atmosphere as a work place then they will continue to work there or even seek out other restaurants and other jobs in them throughout the years. This is the beginning of cooking as a career for them.
Hopefully at some point they will be taken under the wing of an experienced chef who will be informal, but most likely very thorough. they will begin as a helper and apprentice to the chef. They will be given the jobs around the kitchen that require less skill. They will be doing the prep work for the chef. Maybe organizing everything and making sure all the utensils and ingredients are hand. Their cooking as a career informal training will find them washing and slicing vegetables and other preparations such as this. Eventually, if they stick with their training for cooking as a career, they will be shown how to prepare simple parts of the meal. They may even be instructed in how to make sauces or desserts. These specialties can be their own path to cooking as a career because the finer restaurants employ chefs that just prepare sauces and chefs and bakers who only prepare desserts. So if these ares interest the young person, they can pursue them and they will lead them to cooking as a career.
Hopefully all this time the chef is instructing his young apprentice in the fine arts of the trade and sharing his wealth of knowledge of all the tricks of the trade. This can be a very fine beginning to cooking as a career. You can also pursue cooking as a career by going to a cooking school. This option will cost some money, but it is quicker and more formalized so you can be sure nothing is missed. There are many fine cooking schools all over the world. Some of them so prestigious that their graduates are assured of high paying jobs in the finest restaurants. This can be a very fine path to cooking as a career.
